On-line Guide: Where to celebrate the Beaujolais Nouveau 2014

The Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived! Has it been another year already? For the uninitiated, the festival of Beaujolais Nouveau is a chance to celebrate the end of the year and offers the first chance to taste this year's vintage. Celebrated across France, in bars, restaurants, and markets alike, the Beaujolais Nouveau proves itself to be a pleasant evening of wine tasting to enjoy amongst friends. The festival also celebrates the culmination of the previous year’s hard work in the vineyards of the heart of the Rhône-Alpes region in east-central France. The festivities take place on Thursday November 20th and we have put together the top five places to sample the Beaujolais Nouveau in Nice for your convenience.
1. Terroir Divin, 11 Rue Dellile – 06000 Nice
Terroir Divin is a delightful gourmet food andwine tasting experience, if you’re a big fan of authentic local produce then it’s certainly the place for you. Situated on Rue Delille in the centre of town (just round the corner from the Pebbles office!) it’s easy to find and only a stone’s throw from the Art Museum and National Theatre. The wine bar, restaurant and lounge-cellar each have their own unique atmosphere so you’ll be sure to find the right spot to fit your mood as the night goes on.
2. Le Bistro du Fromager, 29 Rue Benoît Bunico – 06300 Nice
Starter, main or desert, fresh, melted or casseroled, from the peaks of the Pyrenees to the ports of Normandy, one iconic French food is sure to be present: cheese, and you’ll most certainly find it in the Bistro du Fromager. With its own refinery cellar, the bistro boasts a selection of fantastic unknown wines, wines that they think should be shouted about from the roof tops!
3. La Gabileria Wine Cave & Art Gallery, 30 Avenue Robert Soleau – 06600 Antibes
If you’re an art fan La Gabileria is the place for you. Founded by Verena Artaux-Deloche, the cave-cum-gallery promotes a variety of French and contemporary artists. La Gabileria invites you to enjoy a glass of the new Beaujolais whilst admiring the paintings of Wa Roox accompanied by the sculptures of Pascale Fournier.
4. Le Tono, 18 Avenue Georges Clémenceau – 06000 Nice
Le Tono offers a cozy bar and restaurant combination. At lunch a refreshing but homely menu is served, combining local recipes with exotic cuisine. Evenings at le Tono are filled with the warm glow of saint germain des pres jazz and vintage wines. You can even enjoy the sunset on their heated terrace.
5. L’Altra Bottiglia, 28 Rue Cassini – 06300 Nice
The Beaujolais Nouveau is new so popular that even the Italians join in on the fun! Specialist in transalpine cuisine l’Altra Bottiglia, is known for its top quality cuisine. Located just by the port, l’Altra Bottiglia offers a diverse medley of cheese and meats plus all the delights of Italian cuisine to boot. The Beaujolais’ bright red hue and fruity flavour are best enjoyed when accompanied by charcuterie, cheese and even chestnuts. Santé!
