Join the early summer fun at Nice's Fête du Port

On the second Saturday of June, families, gourmands and all-night revellers flock to Nice Port. During the city’s largest free festival the entire harbour is closed to traffic - in place of cars and buses are sound stages, food trucks and alfresco wine depots. The Fête du Port is the most Niçoise of the region’s annual events. That means Nissart language rock bands and raucous folk dances, with foreign guests pulled in to the party fray.

The night culminates in two visual extravaganzas. The first is an airbourne display involving acrobats, cranes and lasers that hovers above the illuminated Port. The second is a firework spectacular that sees taxpayers’ Euros rocketed into the warm sky. The most novel inclusion? For the duration of the festival all non-traditional vessels are sailed out of Nice harbour. These are replaced by vintage pointu wooden fishing boats, which offer free rides around the Port from 4pm until midnight.
