On-line Guide: Hot water at apartments
Posted Jan 2019 in Your apartment
There’s nothing worse than running out of hot water, we know. Since the provision of hot water in Nice might vary from what you are used to at home, we thought we’d write a quick post for those who like to do lots of research before they come.
Don’t worry, we’ll give you this information on arrival, and we’re around to help when you need us, but we figure there is no harm in having this little post online as well.
Many of our apartments are equipped with an electric cylinder boiler, that will provide hot water for the taps and bathroom and in some instances the heating (if your apartment is equipped with radiators).
This type of boiler is wired into the fuse board with its own switch and is usually set to Auto mode. This means the boiler will heat the tank for in the morning, and to save energy will then turn off until the following morning.
If, however you want hot water throughout the day you simply need to move the switch on the fuse board from Auto to the I position, this will override the timer and the water tank will be heated for several hours.
Please be aware that after a few hours many of these switches revert to the auto position once the tank is full again. If you wish to override it again you will need to move the switch on the fuse board back to the I position.
If you’re a big family, or have lots of long-haired teenagers who can’t possibly be seen outside without fully washed-daily flowing locks, then being aware of the override switch will help peace and harmony as you get ready for dinner.
If, however you do require any assistance, please do get in touch with a member of the team and they will be happy to help.
