On-line Guide: Hollywood maestro brings a history of movies to Nice

Virtuosic composer of over 500 film and television soundtracks, Ennio Morricone is a veritable Hollywood stalwart. Thrust into the spotlight over 50 years ago for his iconic Sergio Leone spaghetti western scores, the 85-year-old is still going strong and shows no intention of slowing down. His tour has sold-out to audiences across Europe and will be coming to Nice in spring next year.
For us, Morricone's name, will be forever linked to the classics:
'For a Few Dollars More' (1965)
'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (1966)
'The Mission' (1986)
However, with his music often being reused for television and in movies such as Kill Bill (2003), Death Proof (2007) and Inglorious Basterds (2009) his fandom spans multiple generations.
Seven time Oscar nominee, and the only composer to receive the revered Honorary Academy Award "for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music" Morricone is widely recognised within the film industry; with contemporaries such as Hans Zimmer name dropping him as a personal favorite and inspiration. His prolific body of work ranges from classical and jazz, to electronic and rock, and has even been paid tribute to by heavy metal band Metallica.
Undoubtedly one of the most recognized composers in movie history, Ennio Morricone will bring his My Life in Music World Tour to the Nikaia Palace, Nice in March 2015 for what promises to be an unmissable musical extravaganza. Leading an orchestra and chorus of over 200 musicians, the Italian maestro will perform a retrospective of his most famous creations.
Ennio Morricone will play the Palais Nikaďa in Nice on Thursday, 12th of March 2015 at 8:00pm.
