On-line Guide: Museums on the French Riviera
Posted Jan 2019 in Go & Do
Full of cultural heritage, art and design, the French Riviera is one of Europe’s best destinations for world-class museums. From Archaeology to Perfumery, the Cote d’Azur truly does not disappoint on the museum front and has something for everyone, not surprising as there are over 40 of them. The MAMAC contemporary art museum and the Musée Massena history museum are just a couple that are worth a visit whilst holidaying with us, but why not hop on a train and explore what the rest of the French Riviera has to offer? If you plan to visit several museums during your stay, or for our long-term guests, the tourism office offers a Côte d’Azur Card or a Pass Musées de Nice, which allows you access to various museums at a reduced cost.
Visit Antibes to learn all about the one and only Picasso or delve into the history of Archaeology. In Cannes you can visit a unique museum built by Monks, or if you’re fancying something a little different, head to Monaco to become an Ocean know-it-all. St Paul de Vence and Cagnes Sur Mer both have a rich history and Cagnes even offers a museum built on the site of an earlier fortress occupied by Greeks and Romans. No worries if Art isn’t your forte, Grasse, the sweetest smelling city in Europe can teach you all about Perfumery.
The French Riviera may be best known for its beaches and unbeatable weather, but also has museums to please everyone, even the pickiest of people or those who may bore easily. Be sure to not miss out on these whilst holidaying with us!
